Chicago Water Treaters was founded in 2024 to set a higher standard in an industry that’s forgotten who it serves.

We believe water treatment should be reliable, transparent, and technically exceptional. Companies often take their most qualified water treater, put them behind a computer, and they deal with spreadsheets and management.

    Brian is a recognized leader in industrial and commercial water treatment and the founder of Chicago Water Treaters. With over a decade of hands-on field experience he specializes in HVAC water treatment, Legionella risk mitigation, and sustainable water management practices.

    In addition to running Chicago Water Treaters, Brian serves as an Associate Professor at Triton College, where he teaches Process and Drinking Water Treatment courses and mentors the next generation of facilities engineers. His approach blends real-world expertise with a deep commitment to safety, system performance, and client-focused service.

    He remains deeply engaged in industry and community initiatives, including North Branch Works, Illinois Green Alliance, and Chief Engineers of Chicagoland, and served as a Delegate in the German-American Water Infrastructure Survey.

    He holds dual industry-leading credentials: Certified Water Technologist (CWT) and Certified Legionella Safety and Water Management Consultant.

    Jim is an experienced hands-on Engineering, Operations and Program leader with extensive experience planning business objectives for plastics operations, medical device packaging, supply chain logistics, program management and new product development in the medical device industry. He holds multiple patents, has overseen more than $150MM in capital expenditure and brown field projects, implemented Lean business systems, and set strategic goals in technology and development for the business.

    He has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois and is a 6 time Boston Marathon Qualifier runner.
